Final National Workshops/Conferences

Time and Place: Nov/Dec 2012, in Czech Republic, Poland, Slovenia, the Netherlands

Activity: Each partner in the project organized the local workshop to diffuse project's aims and its results. Throughout those workshops, the participants were acquainted with the project main idea, the results developed, etc.

Aims/Description: The national workshops were addressed to FM teachers, educational experts in the field of primary care, practicing General Practitioners / Family Physicians, trainees in the field of Family Medicine / General Practice, students, residents.

All interested groups which are the direct and indirect beneficiaries of our project were invited. A broad announcement companies before the events have been undertaken in each participating country by the Partners. Thank to that, the concepts, work programme, and activities undertaken by the Project have been intimated to the decision makers and other stakeholders, Medical Universities and other Organization by the Partners responsible for activities in their regions. Also, Directors of Colleges of Family Physicians, Directors of Medical Associations were personally invited to participate at the national workshop(s).

Symposium „Pacjent, opieka zdrowotna, medycyna rodzinna – równość, jakość i bezpieczeństwo”

Time and Place: 19.11.2012, Warszawa, Poland

Activity: Symposium on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Family Medicine in Poland „Pacjent, opieka zdrowotna, medycyna rodzinna – równość, jakość i bezpieczeństwo” under the honorary patronage of the Polish President Mr Polski Bronisław Komorowski was held on 19 Nov. 2012 at President palace, Warsaw.

Aims/Description: It was of a special importance as the family medicine is a relatively new field in Poland and previously underdeveloped. The 20-year anniversary of Family Medicine in Poland was an important moment and celebrating it at the level of the highest authority in the country made a great impact and contributes to placing family medicine on the political agenda in the country.

VET training course for FM teachers on Quality Improvement

Time and Place: 11-13/10/2012 in Prague, Czech Republic

Activity: The VET course was addressed to FM teachers from the EU, especially those involved in one-to-one teaching in a practice setting (21 attendees from different EU countries).

Aims/Description: The program of the course was based on current best practices and knowledge and was concentrated on delivering of practical skills how to prepare and implement in practice QI projects and how to teach students and residents QI topics. The course has presented not only a new approach to teaching methods, content QI courses but also it has acquainted participants with new tool & methods that might be useful in performing of formal courses at LLL level in European countries.

18th WONCA Europe Conference in Vienna (04-07/07/2012)

 Time and Place: 04-07/07/2012 in Vienna, Austria during the 18th WONCA Europe Conference

Activity: The workshop and poster were addressed to General Practitioners, Family Medicine teachers, students, trainees, decision makers, other specialists in health care sector.

Aims/Description: Description Quality improvement (QI) has become an important issue in modern health care. Public demands quality care and patient safety. Evidence based practices shall find their way in all family practices. As QI has nowadays become an indispensable part of everyday family doctors’ work, therefore QI methods and skills should be taught at different levels of medical education. This includes also continuous medical education (CME), where specific methods of teaching and assessment should be used. Methods: workshop last for 1.5 hours. It consisted of plenary presentations, buzz groups, working in small groups and discussion. After the workshop, participants should know and understand necessity for measuring and improving quality in health care, they should get familiar with teaching and assessment methods of QI and they should value teaching QI in CME.

17th WONCA Europe Conference in Warsaw (08-11/09/2011)

Time and Place: 08-11/09/2011 in Warszawa, Poland

Activity:

  1. Poster presentation: “Integrated training of GP/FD teachers in the field of quality improvement 'inGPinQI project' in brief"
  2. Poster presentation: "Development of the Competency Framework in Quality Improvement for General Practitioners and Family Physicians in Europe"
  3. In addition to the presentations – small leaflets with more detailed information on the project were also distributed.

Aims/Description: The aim was  to present and discuss mainly the framework of competencies of GPs in the field of Quality Improvement developed so far, and its impact on defining different levels of expertise. On the basis of the feedback gained during the presentation the authors were able to incorporate necessary changes into the final competency framework. We received valuable feedback, observations, and opinion from the participants of the Conference. On the light of that feedback, the tool for measuring GPs competencies placed in the Internet was adapted. The moderated poster walk was very well attended (estimated at 50-60 participants).  A group discussion was facilitated by chair of the poster session and stimulated by the members of the partner organisations, and the project gave rise to widespread interest.

The conference constituted unique possibility for disseminating the inGPinQI project activities and getting new contacts for the future project development. 17th WONCA Europe Conference was the most important - Family Medicine European event for the society of family doctors in Europe. It gathered more than 2-3 thousand of family medicine doctors, teacher, nurses, students and other health care professionals and decision makers from all over the world.

 

16th WONCA Europe Conference "Family Medicine into the Future Blending Health & Cultures) in Malaga

Time and Place: 06-09/10/2010 in Malaga, Spain

 Activity: Poster presentation entitled: “Innovative lifelong learning of European General Physicians in Quality Improvement supported by information technology

Aims/Description: Presentation provided general information on the Project aims and objectives. In addition to the presentations – small leaflets with more detailed information on the project were also distributed.

The conference constituted unique possibility for disseminating the inGPinQI project activities and getting new contacts for the future project development. Annual WONCA Europe Conference is the most important - Family Medicine European event for the society of family doctors in Europe. It takes place every year in different European country and gathers about 2-3 thousand of family medicine doctors, teacher, nurses, students and other health care professionals and decision makers. The conference provided possibility for debate as well as reflection for teachers and physicians active in high quality work and the other specific topics in reference with FM.

 

5th joint European Public Health Conference in Malta

Time and Place: 07-10/11/2012 in Malta

 Activity: Two oral presentations were given:

  1. Validation of an instrument on self-perceived level of competency among family physicians in Albania”;
  2. Patients self-assessed level of competency of their family physicians in Albania” .

 In addition to the presentations – small leaflets with more detailed information on the project were also distributed.

Aims/Description: Presentation provided information of the results of validation study of the SAQ tool measuring the gap competencies of GP in Albania primary care settings.  

The annual European Public Health Conference is the most important event for European society of experts in public health and medicine fields. It's organized under the official support of 2 big European Association of Universities: The European Public Health Association (EUPHA) and the Association of Schools of Public Health in the European Region (ASPHER).  Rich and interesting scientific programme  ensures, that every year, more than 1200 attendees participate in the Conference. Presentation of the Project objectives and main activities was crucial for the dissemination process at the European level.

 

3rd joint European Public Health Conference in Amsterdam

Time and Place: 10-13/11/2010 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands

EQuiP Invitational Conference in Copenhagen

Time and Place: 07-09/04/2011  in Copenhagen, Denmark

Activity:

  1. Poster presentation entitled: "New approach to integrated educational training of general practitioners and family medicine teachers in the field of quality improvement - presentation of the inGPinQI project"
  2. Workshop entitled: "Competence-based education in Quality Improvement for General Practitioners/Family Doctors in Europe"

Aims/Description: The poster described the main idea of the project, whereas  the workshop aimed to: a) audit a basic list of competencies in QI in GP/FM and to prioritize their relevance to GP/FM (matrix of the competencies) and b) to identify the measurable elements of competencies in QI in FM. The workshop was a first (from two) rounds of Consensus Development Panels which have been undertaken to evaluate and make changes to the initial draft of the competency framework. Attendees of the workshop were members of EQuiP who are practicing Family Doctors and experts in Quality Improvement.

The members (delegates) of EQuiP and guests invited at this conference are national experts in Family Medicine education and especially in the field of Quality Improvement, having great experience and influence in this area. Presentation of the project aims and objectives, progress of realization as well as involvement of the EQuiP members in development of the Project products has crucial meaning not only in dissemination process, but also in providing its product at the highest level. Great interest of the EQuiP members in the project products and their contribution, especially to the Competency Framework in QI for GPs/FDs document significantly increases its value – as a ‘common’ European document.

 

XII Polish National Congress of Family Medicine in Warszawa

Time and Place: 24-27/05/2012 in warszawa, Poland

Activity:

  1. Poster presentation entitled: "Innowacyjne formy wspierające proces nauczania lekarzy rodzinnych w zakresie poprawy jakości świadczeń – europejski projekt inGPinQI"

Aims/Description: The poster described the foreseen impact of the project results (especially SAQ tool measuring the gap competencies, DocQI online course) on quality improvement in family medicine, etc.

The annual National Congress of Family Medicine is the most important event for Polish Family Medicine professionals (family medicine doctors, teachers, trainees, residents, students, nurses, decision makers, politicians, local and national authority, etc.). It is organized under the official support of  The College of Family Physicians in Poland and honorary patronage of Ministry of Health. Rich and interesting scientific programme  ensures, that every year, more than 1500 Family Physicians participate in the Congress. Presentation of the Project objectives and main activities was crucial for the dissemination process at the national level.

 

XI Polish National Congress of Family Medicine in Mikołajki

Time and Place: 02-05/06/20111 in Mikołajki, Poland

Activity:

  1. Poster presentation entitled: "Zmiany w wytycznych postępowania w cukrzycy w roku 2011"
  2. Worhshop entitled: "Poprawa jakości opieki w praktykach lekarzy rodzinnych - projekt Leonardo da Vinci"
  3. In addition to the presentations – small leaflets with more detailed information on the project were also distributed.

Aims/Description: The target group was more than 1200 attendees participating in the Congress Polish Family Physicians. The poster described the main aims and objectives of the new 'Guideline of the management for diabetes mellitus' that is a tangible product achieved in the project (developed in the WP7). The workshop was dedicated to the whole project. During presentation detailed information about the project was provided (aims, products, partnership, workplan, results achieved so far, expected impact and input on quality improvement in family medicine sector in Poland and in Europe, etc.). Moreover, the modern methods, programs and European trends in Quality Improvement and Quality Assessment were discusses. The planned activities related to process of accreditation in primary health care setting were presented. The mainstream of the discussion was focused on the GPs needs and required competencies in QI, that should be taken into consideration by the project team in developing of the comprehensive list of QI competencies within a framework for continuing professional development for European GPs/FDs.

 

X Polish National Congress of Family Medicine in Łódź

 Activity: Poster presentation entitled: "Poprawa jakości opieki w praktyce lekarza rodzinnego - projekt europejskich działań w odniesieniu do cukrzycy i nadciśnienia"

Aims/Description: The poster described the main aims, objectives, expected results of the project, foreseen impact on quality improvement in family medicine, etc.

XIV Annual National Conference on Quality in Health Care System in Kraków

 Activity: Oral presentation entitled: "Poprawa jakości w praktyce lekarza rodzinnego - projekt europejskich działań w odniesieniu do cukrzycy i nadciśnienia"

The Conference was devoted to health care professionals and experts, policy makers, national and regional authorities, social partner representatives and other stakeholders interested in quality improvement (QI) and quality assurance (QA).

 

Conference "Nowe zalecenia dotyczące leczenia chorych na cukrzycę dla lekarzy rodzinnych" in Kraków

Time and Place: 09/04/2011 in Kraków, Poland

Activity: Oral presentation entitled: „Leczenie chorych na cukrzycę typu 2 zgodnie z zaleceniami na rok 2011”

Aims/Description: Presentation was dedicated to a crucial issues in family medicine related with the recommendations in the clinical treatment of patients with diabetes in 2011. In addition to the presentations – small leaflets with more detailed information on the project were also distributed.

The conference provided possibility for debate as well as reflection for teachers and physicians active in high quality work and the other specific topics in reference with FM. It also was a great opportunity to widely distribute the tangible results of the project: "New Guideline for the management of diabetes mellitus - a Polish perspective" that has just been printed. This publication allows to improve existing methods of treatment, and thus the effective help the patients suffering from diabetes. Thus, new guidelines for diagnosis and treatment of patients with diabetes, have also been introduced in the recommendations prepared for family medicine specialists and other doctors delivering the primary health care.
