University of Tirana

University of Tirana (Universiteti i Tiranës) is located in Tirana, Albania. It was the first university in Albania when it was founded in October 1957 as the State University of Tirana (Universiteti Shtetëror i Tiranës) by joining together five existing institutes of higher education. The number of students attending this university is over 14,000 and the number of teaching staff is over 600. UT offers three-year Bachelor, one or two year Master, and three to five year Doctorate degree programs, in accordance with the Bologna system. Faculty of Medicine which has more than 5000 students, is UT's most competitive. The faculty has made a motion to separate from UT and form a self-standing medical school.

The objective of the cooperation between KLRwP and UoT is to develop a long-lasting research network in the domain of (European) family medicine with elements of public health.

Contribution of UoT consists of participation in the following Project activities:

  1. Validation of the questionnaire and identification of the existing gap between the current/self-perceived level of competencies related to Quality Improvement possessed by GPs/FDs and the desirable/expected level of competencies they should possess to provide high level patient-centered care in Albania.
  2. Dissemination of the project, its idea and results at the national and international level.
  3. Statistical analysis of the collected data (data acquisition and data processing).
